Why does the Year need to Leap???

The Gregorian calendar is the standard calendar for civic use throughout the world.  It is the calendar that replaced the Julian calendar, and is a very convenient (so far) timing device.  This calendar does not include many national and and Orthodox country’s religious celebration and feast times.

A “leap year” occurs every four years to help synchronize the calendar year with the solar year, or the length of time it actually takes the earth to complete its orbit about the sun, which is about 365¼ days.
The length of the solar year, however, is slightly less than 365¼ days – by about 11 minutes. To compensate for this discrepancy, the leap year is omitted three times every four hundred years!
In other words, a century year cannot be a leap year unless it is divisible by 400. Thus 1700, 1800, and 1900 were not leap years, but 1600, 2000, and 2400 are leap years.
That is the basic math.

Astrologically, this oddity of intercalary ‘nutation’ has an important factor:  In the important situation of our birthday, for example!
You were born at a particular time of day, in a fixed location on the planet – and   people celebrate their birthday anniversary every year – year in and year out on that same day.

However it is all about the Sun:

Your actual Solar Return – the precise degree, minute and second of your Sun’s position at birth (e.g.: 2 degrees, 30 minutes and 12 seconds of Aries) – will never return to that exact position at the same time and place you were born.
The Sun will be at a slightly different degree, minute and second (of arc) always.  The difference between your annual birthday and the moment that the Sun returns to the same place when you were born, could be anywhere between a few minutes of time to 24 hours on either side of your natal/actual time of birth!
Doing what is called a Solar Return horoscope for each year for your birthday, set for the place in which you were born, takes into account this “extra ¼ of a day” and “moves” your Solar Return horoscope back 3 signs on the Ascendant ever year!
Hmmm . . . so if you want to celebrate the exact Solar Return of your year, then you need to have a chart set for the exact position of the Sun when you were born.  It is complicated mathematically, but our astrological software will do this for you.  And, then, you can celebrate not just the anniversary of your birth, but revisit your soul contract at the correct time of your Solar purpose when the Sun returns to where it was when you were born.

Renew your Solar Contract – your Soul Intention

A Solar Return chart is what I call “renegotiation, renewal and orientation toward your soul’s intention, purpose, direction and outcome for your next year”.
Your soul’s contract for the year occurs at this moment of return.  And, it could be at 2:12 am or 5:59 pm – the time is based on the precise return of the sun to its natal place!
Thus, the time may not be convenient for such a celebration, but that is up to you to be aware and conscious that we do have this option to make our life agree with the heavens, and the Solar Return is the most significant agreement we make on earth, at our incarnation point, and thus deserves to be honoured . . .

Many Happy Solar Returns to you all, as we move through 2016!
